LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Tuesday
The Council met at 2.30 p.m, PASSAGE OF RILLS.
After some preliminary business of no general interest, and the first reading of a number of bills from tho Lower House, Mr AVhitakor moved the second reading of the Affirmations and Declarations Bill. Mr P. A. Buckley moved that the bill be thrown out, and after a brief debate this was carried by 19 to 11. Tho Auckland Harbor Act Amendment Bill, the Land Transfer Act Amendment Bill, the AVest Coast Settlement Reserves Bill, the Kawhaia Township Sale Bill, and the Volunteer Act Amendment Bill ivere read a second timo. On a division of 22 to 9 the Council went into committee on tho Licensing Act Amendment Bill No. 2, and progress was roported. Tho Council rose at 5 o'clock.
