completely eclipsed the impending general elections. The polling for tho general elections closes at b o'clock this afternoon. Many spirited contests are expected, although not much excitement has been manifested, public attention having hitherto been largely occupied by the cricket matches. The strike of tailoresses has now virtually ended. The majority resume work to-day, and the remainder are not expected to hold out longer. It is expected that a final international cricket match between the Hon. Ivo Bligh's team and the Australian eleven will take l_.ee at Melbourne.
