THE HOSPITAL.
[To the IJditor of the Daily Telegraph.] Srs, -*• The answer of the Colonial Secretary to Mr Sutton appears to me. thoroughly satisfactory, and our thanks are due to that gentleman for the support be has given to the committee in the firm stand they have made in this matter. " All's well that ends well," and I, for one, air not disposed to look the gift horse in the mouth too closely. We require at least £3000 for the new wing and the children's hospital, towards which the Government will give us a subsidy of £1 for £1, whilst at the same time tbey relieve us from the charge of maintenance. The Hospital ie crowded, and I trust and believe such a ready reeponse will be made by the people of Hawke'e Bay as will enable the committee to sign the building contract without delay.—l am, &c, William Hahkee. Napier, 22nd December, 1882.
