The weather was fine on Saturday for the second day's races, but the attendance was miserable. The small fields occasioned little betting, trebles being backed down to 7 to 1 Mokarakara, Turquoise, and Violin being choice goods. hunters' plate, Of 60 soys., second horse to receive 10 soys. from the stakes; over 10 flights of hurdles 3ft. 6in. high; two miles and a distance. Mr W. Sutherland's Wild Boy, aged, lOst 2lbs (Robinson) 1 Mr P. Jones' eh g Gang Awa, aged, lOst 21b (toole) 2 Mr M. Sherwin's b g Mokarakara, 6 j yre, 10*t 101b (J. Cotton) 3 I The Agent (13st) was scratched. Betting—B to 4 on Mokarakara, 2 to 1 against Gang Awa, and 4 to 1 against Wild Boy. This proved a fine race. For the first mile and a half Mokarakara and Wild Boy ran side by side, but at the half mile from home the favorite was done with. Gang Awa, who was ridden all over the course, waß then brought up, and a desperate finish resulted in all three being under the whip. Wild Boy showed most pace, and won a fine race by a length, Mokarakara a bad third, the weight being evidently too much for him. Time, 4mins. 35secs. Of 188 shares on the totalisator 34 were on the winner. president's handicap, A sweep of 3 soys., with 130 soy. added, 1£ miles. Messrs Mason and Vallance's Turquoise, 7st 101b (Williams) .. 1 Mr Little's Maribynong, sst 71b (Sharpe) ... 2 Tasmann was scratched. This race, which promised to be a very hollow affair, resulted in a fine finish. Maribynong was allowed to get away with the lead, and maintained it till within twenty yards of the winning post, Williams winning by clever jockeyship by half a length. Time, 3mins. ssecs. The outside totalisator paid a dividend of 2s 6d, and the inside Is 6d.

NOVEL RACE, Of 60 soy?. This was a walk over for Mr Mackay's Aurora, Don Jose having been scratched. GRAND STAND HANDICAP, Of 60 soys , 6 furlongs. Mr Dodson's Miss King filly, 6st 21b 1 Mr Cutis' Nautilus, 7et 121b 2 Violin, 6st 101b 3 Gitana, Bst, and Stock Flower, sst 101b, also ran. There was a magnificent race between Miss King filly, Nautilus, and Violin, the first-named winning by a head. Time, lmin. 20secs. members' plate,Welter handicap sweep of 3 soys , with 100 soys. added ; seven furlongs. Messrs Mason and Vallance's Turquoise, 7st lib 1 Hon. G. M'Lean's Gitana, Bst 61b ... 2 Mr Goodman's Somnus, 7st 61b ... 3 Rangatira also ran. Turquoise was the favorite, and won by a length. Time, lmin. 32secs.
