November 23. Welcome Jack and King Quail have been scratched for the Wellington Cup

The Government intend to circulate the instructions concerning the measures to be adopted in preventing the spread of contagious or infectious diseases which were recently published in the Gazette.

A cable message has been received from Victoria by the head office here of the National Mutual Insurauce Company stating that the annual meeting of the company passed off most satisfactorily. The new insurances for the year exceeded £1,000,000, and the increase of funds was over £50,000.
