The Hon. Ivo Bligh's team of cricketers landed here yesterday from the P. and O. steamship Peshawur, but, owing to the rain, play in the match against fifteen of South Australia could not be commenced until 2 p.m. The visitors went in first, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had put together GG runs for the loss of six wickets. The following is the score: — Englishmen—First Innings. Barlow, caught ... 1 Mr W. W. Reed, caught 5 Mr G. B. Studd, caught ... . 19 Mr A. G. Steele, bowled 4 Bates, bowled ... ... ... ... 0 Mr C. T. Studd, bowled .9 Barnes, not out 19 Tylecote, not out 8 Extras 1 Total 66 Play was stopped during the afternoon owing to the rain, and the wicket was not in good order.
