VICTORIA RACING CLUB MEETING.

The last day of the Victorian Racing Club's meeting passed off with the greatest success. Immense crowds of visitors were present, and the weather was superb. The following is the result of the several events : —

MAHES 1 PRODUCE STAKES,

A sweepstakes ot 10 soys each, with 100 added; for 3-year-olds, the produce of mares covered in 1878 —colts Bst 101b, fillies Bst slb; the winner of the V.R.C. Derby, 1882, to carry 51b extra. One mile and a quarter. The second horse to receive 50 soys, and the third 20 soys out of the stakes. Calma 1 Segenhoe t Boolka f Betting—Even on Segenhoe. Calma won easily. Segenhoe and Boolka ran a dead heat for second place. Time, 2mins. llsecs. V.B.C. HANDICAP. A sweepstakes of 7 soys each, 2ft, with 150 added. For 3-year olds and upwards. One mile and three-quarters. Gudarz 1 Gipsy Cooper 2 Lord Burghley 3 —Eleven horses started. Betting—s to 1 against The Czar and 6 to 1 against Lord Burghley and Gudarz. There was a good race between the placed horses. Time, 2mins. 36secs. STEEPLECHASE. A handicap sweepstakes of 10 soys each, h ft, with 300 added. The second horse to receive 50 soys and the third 25 soys out of the stake. About three miles, over such course and jump as the stewards shall direct. Kanaka 1 Sailor 2 Left Bower 3 —Eleven horses started. Betting—s to 4 agat Left Bower, 8 to 1 agst Kanaka, and 5 to 1 agst Sailor. The first horses had a splendid race throughont, finishing well together. CANTERBURY PLATE. A sweepstakes of 10 soys each, h ft, with 300 added. The second horse to receive 50 soys and the third 25 soys out of the stake. Weight for age. Two miles and a quarter. Commotion ... ... ... 1 Darebin 2 Sweet William 3 —-Assryian and Liberator also started. Betting—s to 4on Darebin and 3 to 1 agst Commotion. There was a great race up the straight between the two first horses. Darebin, however, fell back, and Commotion won rather easily at the finish. Time, 4mins. 45seC8.
