Messrs Hannay and Lowe, in their report of the enquiry into the late railway accident near Waititi, state that, in the evdidence adduced, and among all the circumstances, nothiDg has transpired to point prominently to an immediate cause of the derailment of the train. To all appearance the line was in good running order, and the engine in good working order. Although the leading -wheels were somewhat worn they were not sufficiently bo to warrant that the accident should be attributed to them. There was no positive evidence to show what did cause the train to leave the rails. They do Dot find that any negligence or wrongful act of any person caused the accident, but collateral circumstances brought under notice during the enquiry demand strict investigation, and will result in increased vigilance throughout the service.
