A special train for the Fancy Fair leaves Hastings at 6.30 this evening, calling at intermediate stations, and returning from Napier at 10 o'clock. A meeting will be held in the Council Chamber at 2 p.m. to-morrow of those interested in the formation of a permanent Horticultural Society.
Mr Lyndon will sell by auction at his mart to-morrow at 11 a.m., Canterbury bacon, maize, tea, crockery, <fee. Messrs Monteith and Co.'s weekly sale of stock, vehicles, farming implements, produce, &c, takes place at the Horse Bazaar to-morrow at 1.30 p.m. They also sell a quantity of clocks, watches, jewellery, &c. The Property Tax Commissioner notifies that all persons in the Hawke's Bay district are required to furnish statements of all their real and personal property to him at the Government buildings, Wellington, on the 20th December next, in accordance with section 30 of the Property Assessment Act. Mr Joseph W. Andrews, Coote-road, has been appointed agent at Napier for the Government Life Insurance Department. Messrs Monteith and Co. will hold two cattle and horse sales next week, one at Beecroft's yards, Hastings, on Wednesday, and the other on Friday at the Shamrock yards. Subscriptions to the building fund of the Hawke's Bay Hospital are earnestly invited, and donations marked " Children's Hospital" are specially set apart for that purpose. Further information re subscribers is advertised.
The chairman of the Meanee licensing district publishes the result of the local option poll taken at Taradale on the 7th October.
Mr Cross, the trustee, summons a meeting of the creditors of Edward Gillett, formerly of Waipawa, but now of Napier, to be held at the Court House, Napier, on Tuesday next, when the bankrupt will make application for a certificate that he has complied with the provisions of the Bankruptcy Acts. Messrs Monteith and Co. have agricultural and bush lands in the Palmerston and Woodville districts for sale, and have several business sites in Hastings-street, Napier, to let. Messrs Dolbel Bros., of the Napier brick yard, want to sell roach and slaked lime. Mr J". T. Cassin, Hastings-street, has oleographs for sale from Is each. Mr Cassin has also the best value in tinware, crockeryware, cutlery, groceries, &c. An old-fashioned Chertsey double-stud fastening purse has been lost. " Caledon," office of this paper, offers a reward to finder. Messrs Neal and Close have just opened men's trousers, pants, and suits in mole, Bedford, cotton, and black cord, and dungaree ; also, China silk dust and Galatea coats, new tweed suits, and new hats. The owner of a liver and white pointer dog, which has been found, can have same by paying expenses and applying to Mr John Burton, Shamrock Hotel. Woods' trico Baron fluid is a valuable preparation for increasing the growth of the hair.
