The bar has somewhat improved this morning, in that the river is higher now than at any time this week, showing that the block is becoming better. Last night the water was running into the Whakamahia lagoon, as well as iato the sea. This mornine; a party, organised under the direction ot the Harbor Board, started work at the heads to cut a new channel, and it is hoped they will be successful. Shorels and willing hands are in requisition. A public meeting is announced for Wednesday to urge the Government to go on with tne Wairoa-GHsborne road.
