The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Kotorua, Capt. J. Tozer, arrived here at daylight yesterday morning from Gisborne and Auckland, and after shipping and transhipping mails, cargo, and passengers, steamed on her way southwards shortly after 10 o'clock. She is to trasfer her Melbourne mails and passengers to the Eotomahana at Port Chalmers, which vessel has been put on to run a special trip, taking excursionists for the Melbourne cup. The topsail schooner Edith Eeid sailed for β-reymouth in ballast on Saturday afternoon.

The Union Company's s.s. Arawata, Captain Carey, dropped anchor in the roadstead lit about 11 o'clock yesterday morning from Wellington Southern ports, and Melbourne. She brought 60 tons of cargo for this port, "which was transhipped to the lighter Admiral. The following is a report of her passage kindly furnished by Mr Dalgleish, her purser : —Left Melbourne on the 11th inst., at 2.30 p.m., and arrived at Hobart on the 13th at 7.30 a.m. ; left Hobart the came day, and arrived at the Bluff on the 17th at 5 a.m. ; left at 8.30 a m., and brought up at Port Chalmers at 7.30 the same evening ; took her departure on the 19th at 4 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at 8 a.m. next morning ; left at 6 p.m., and made the Queen's wharf, Wellington, at 10 a.m. on the 21st; sailed again at 4.30 p.m., and arrived here as given above. The outward passengers were taken off at a few minutes past 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and the Arawnta steamed for Poverty Bay and Auckland at 5 p.m. She is telegraphed as having arrived at Gisborne at 1 o'clock this morning. The steamer Maori, Captain Anderson, left for Wairoa, at 8.30 a.m. this day, hiking a full cargo and a number of passei; t ;^rs. The brigantine Linda Weber, Captain Bell, has cleared at the Customs, and will sail this afternoon for Mercury Bay in ballast. She is to return with another load of sawn and baulk timber for Mr Eobert Holt. The steamer Southern Cross, Captain Berneeh, arrived here from Gisborne and Auckland at an early hour this morning, having left the former place at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon" She was berthed at the breastwork at about 9.30 a.m., where she is discharging her cargo, some 50 tons. She is announced to steam again northwards at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The s.b. Fairy is loaded up and awaits a favorable chance to proceed to the coasb. We are requested to state that, owing to the bad state the Wairoa bar is now in, the Union Company's launch Boojum has been temporarily removed from the trade, and ■will not leave again \mtil a considerable improvement takes place. The ketch Admiral is discharging cargo out of the Union boats at the breastwork to-day.
