September 26. There are twelve cases, including the Papakaio murder, set down for trial at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court. Mr Massey, late town clerk, bas accepted the offer of the City Council (first made to him seven months ago) of the sum of £375 in full of all demands. This matter has been several times before the Court. A young man named Jas. Garrick met with a severe accident at Reid and Gray's foundry yesterday. He was putting a belt on a pully, when bis wrist was caught, and h.p was dragged round the shaft. When extricated it was found that his right arm and leg were broken. At the hospital his right leg was amputated.
