September 22. At the wool sale to-day 8500 bales were offered. Bidding generally was quiet. Scoured wools especially are neglected. Obituary.—Lord Tenterden, aged 48. The deceased was permanent Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs. The Homeward mails via San Francisco which left Auckland on August 15, were delivered here yesterday, four days before the contract time.
