FAITH, LAKE ROTORUA. KO TE WHARE O TE WHAKAPONO TAPU. THE REV. IHAIA TE AHU (who has stedfastly labored amidst many discouragements as an ordained Clergyman of the Church of England s'nee IS3O amongst his countrymen, tire loyal tribe of the A-awa) is very desirous of erecting a Church at Ohinemutu, where he now resides. He feels the great want of a suitable building in which the people may assemble for public worship, and he believes that tbe erection of a Church will conduce to the restoration of that decent observance of the Lord's Day and of other ordinances of religion, which has of late years fallen into too much neglect. For this sad state of things ihe natives are noi alone to blame. And now that an effort is being made amongst themselves to check drunkenness and other flagran. vices, and to return to the Faith, there is every reason that they should be encouraged and assisted in this much needed reformation. I would therefore very earnestly appeal to the English residents, and • o the many visitor and tourists who for pleasure or health frequent these beautiful lakes, to contribute towards the bailding of a commodious and suitable Church, such as will be an ornament to the new township. The Maoris will give a Bite in a commandinqr position on the shores of the lake, and as the building will be available for English services as well. . Maori, it will be of benefit to the whole community Subscriptions will be thankfully received by the Rev. Ihaia te Aim, Ohinemutu; the Venerable Archdeacon Brown, C.M.S., Tauranga; and the Right Rev. the Bishop of Waiapu, Napier; or may be paid to the account of the " Maori Church, Ohinemutu," at the Bank of New Zealand, Tauranga EDWARD C.
