In the French National Assembly the University Education Bill has been read a third time by 394 votes against 268. During the renewed debates on the Public Powers Bill, the new Constitution was violently attacked by two ultras, MM. Louis Blanc and ilontjah, which elicited * taunting speech from M. Buffet. The measure, however, is considered safe. The question of dissolution acquires increased prominence. The Bureau of the T*ft propose that the House shall sit till the end of August, and reassemble in October for the election of senators, and then be dissolved. To effect this, Republican deputies are urged not to propose amendments which protract business. A banquet in Paris on the 4th, in honour of Garibaldi's birthday, was attended by 400 pel-sons, including Louis Blane. The intended abdication of King Alfonso is contradicted. He has given a grand banquet to a number of former senators, deputies, and other politicians, but no intimation was given of a speedy convocation of the Cortes. 'Jhe rumour of marriage between the Princess of G irgenti and Prince John Frederick Charles of Honhen/ollern gains ground in Paris. The Italian Parliament has beem prorogued, after passing the Public Securities Bill, wliich authorises exceptional measures to be taken for the inaintenanco of safety. The opposition was powerful and obstinate, and at one time a Ministerial crisis seemed inevitable. The Russian journals have been discuss ing the respective advantages of a German or English Alliance. Th« Golo* advocates the latter. Dr. Nalck, Ministerbf Pnblic Worship, is the hero of the month. He has been making a tour of the Rhino cities Bonn, Cologne, a ix-la-Chapelle, Mannheim, and Dusseldorf , where he has been enthusiastically received, feted, and honoured with torchlight priweasious. Wiesirger was acquitted at Vienna of a charge of proposing to shoot Bismarck ; ho says he made the proposition merely to com - promise the Jesuits. During some religious riots at Rhciins, in Prussia) provoked by Ultrainoutane demonstrations, the Mayoc was dangerously stabbed. The (Jerinan Budget shows a million sterling dciicit.
