THE ALBERT BARRACK RESERVE.
To tho Editor : Sir,— The petition of the crickotcrs and others to bo presented at tho next mooting of tho Commissioners does not quito express tho wishos of tho publio of Auckland ; aa quito ninety-nine out of evory hundred wish tho sixtecn-acre recroatiou ground to bo livid out something like this, viz :- Tho centre to be laid down in grass, to bo used for cricket, football, pedestriau Bports, archery, croquet, bowls, qtioiU, and Rifle Volunteer parado ground ; tho remaining portion all round tho outor edge could bo J.iid out with walks, and planted with trees, shrubs, flowers, &c. The people of Auckland will bo quite satisfied with tho Coinmiesioners if some such plan aa this is carried out, and it is only tho fear that tho recreation ground would be cut up in small pieces that has created bo much mistrust in tho minds of tho public. — I am, &c, A Max ix tub Cnr.
