VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

Thb following is a list of the names of the twelve Volunteers chosen on S*tnrday last to represent the married men in the Married v. Single match, to be fired a fortnight hence. The ranges were 200, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots being fired at each range :—: —

An interesting and cloaely-eontegted rifle match, waa fired to-day at the Tararu Butts, the competitors being 15 marksmen, natives' of the colony and 15 marksmen of Scotch birth. The men were divided into two squads — 16 and 14; and between 8 and 9 o'clock the ihst squad commenced firing, and finished about 3 o'clock, with the following result :— Scotch, 400 ; Colonials, 389. The: former thus led by 11- ' points. The ranges were 400, 500,'. and 600 yards ; five shots at each. The highest scorers on the Colonialside were— Volunteer Stone, T. N.Y., 61 ; Volunteer Gavan,_T.N.V., 54 ; Volunteer Thompson.rT.N. V., 52 ; and Robinson, 52. On "the Scotch side, Volunteer McLeodj* T.S. V., scored 58 ; Volunteer Carnie,T.S.V., 56 ; Johnson, T.S.V., 56 ; and Wilson, 52.. , The second squad then went to the butts, and, after firing the first range, the Colonists were ahead by one point, having thus t gained 12 points.
