CirBi&TCJiUECir, March 6. The Criminal Sittings of the Supreme Court were opened to-day. The calender is remarkable for the large number of cases of a serious character, including four charges of murder, and other grave charges. Beattie, a police sergeant at Loithfield, has been committed for trial on a charge or embezzlement.
Mai cli 7. George G-usfcave Schmidt lias been sentenced to two years on a charge of stabbing. Frederick Stanley, on a chirgc of obtaining money under false pretences, ieceived twelve months. Mark Turner, convicted of a charge of bestiality, was sentenced to five years' penal servitude.
