BURNING- OF THE SHIP MALABAR. On the arrival of the ship Tirnavu from London wo learnt that the ship Malabar had been burned at soa ; but Captain Shaw was unable to give any information respecting the crew, as the ves&el at the time of his seeing her was abandoned. From papers to hand by the mail we glean the following farther particulars :— " Last week, the loss by fire of the ship Malabar, of Greenock, was reported. The owner, Mr. John TCerr, is in receipt of a telegram from Captain Galloway, dated Bombay, September 22 (Thursday), which states that the fire took place on 26th July, while the ship was in lat. 25 S., long. 32 W. All the officers and crew (29 all told) were saved in tho boats, but they lost everything belonging to them, chronometers excepted. Tie mate and 15 of the crew were picked up by the ship Europa, •which, was bound for Beypore, while Captain Galloway and the rest of the crew were rescued by the bhip James* A. Wright, and landed in Bombay. Captain Galloway proceeds home by the first mail steamer. The Malabar was a splendid iron-built ship of 1,200 tons register, 14 years Al at Lloyd's, built in Greenock in 1868 by Messrs. Bobertson and Co., and sailed on her first voyage in Novernbpr of same year. She left London for Batavia (Java) on 16th Juno last, with a cargo of coal on ship's account. On Sth July she was spoken m lat. UN., long. 27 W., all well. Ship and cargo, we believe, were insured."
