'Airedale 1 and the 'Racehorse on October 2, for export. , , , 2,0000z. of gold from Hunt's claim was brougntto town, on October 3, by. Mr. Cobley. Tie Ponsonby Claim,, Moanataiarj, obtained 90oz. of gold from a recent crushing of 19 toDS of stone, »t. louter's machine. .The Manukau Claim realised 3560z 15dwt. llgr., from 25 tons of atone, Gold has been discovered at Whungapoua, about five miles from Kapai.ga. About forty men are now at work ou the ground. The Star of fortune, Puriri, renlwed 2oz. 16dwt. from 3501b. of atone ; aud the Belle of Devon Boz. 7dwt. 9^r. from ft tiial crushing of 171b. 1 of stone., The Lord E ebon Claim yielded at the rate of 3f oz. to the ton, ,and the Vale of Avoca got lOoz. from 6O'.b. weight of stove., Ihe Star of Waipipi Claim obtained 3oz. siwt. 2gr. of retorted gold per ton ; »nd the pomeward-Bound Claim 3oz. to the ton ; Mahurangi Claim, 70z.,it0 the ton. Gold-bearing quartz has. been mefcwith at Whangarei, and prospectors are.novrjrt work on a drive on JJr. Kust'siind.Pr. Per*tonV grounds. - r From Kellys Claim 8,3070z. of gold have been obtained as the result of nearly five weeks' crushing, and 750z. have been got from ten tons of quartz from Heldt'a Claim,
The Golden Crown Claim realised 2,52402. from 97 tons of stone. Several attempts have been made of late to induce the natire owners of the Upper Thames district to open that ground for gold-prospecting, but as yet 'Without avail. 770z. 15dwt. haye been taken from lcwt. of stone from the Lucky Hit Claim ; 3oz. 16dwt. from 3501b stone from Star of Fortune Claim. The Prince of Wales' stone is yielding at the rate of 20oz. to the ton. The Sink (o Rise have got 86oz. from the hundred pound weight of stone ; and the Jusb in Time, BOoz. from 2cwt. of atone.
