AUCKLAND REGATTA, 1868-69. A MEETING of the Auckland Regatta Committee was held on the 10th June last, at the Star Hotel, when it was agreed to form an AUCKLAND REGATTA CLUB. The objects of this Club are to be the carrying out in an efficient mauner of the ANNUAL REGATTA on 29th January (the Anniversary of the Colony) ; to eusure fair competition, encourage improvement in the build and rig of all classes of vessels, and use every endeavour to assist to hold up the high position Auckland has attained amongst the shipbuilding ports of tbe Southern seas. THE Company has been formed, and will be Registered under the Mining Companies' Limited Liability Act, 1865. The Claims are situated on the Alabama Creek (branch of the Karaka), and comprise seventeen men's ground. The Shareholders in the above Claims have agreed to au< amalgamation, by which means the various leaders running through the ground can be worked from a lower level than would otherwise be possible, and a greater, fall of water obtained. In addition to the leaders already cut in the workings, from which good prospects and excellent specimens have been obtained, a gold-bearing reef has been exposed in the Confidence and Rothesay Castle Claims (adjoining the Company's ground), the'm»gnetio bearings of which have been proved to run through the Sacramento and Alabama. Tbe original shareholders have retained 680 shares (paid-up capital) ; 420 are now offered to the public. 10si per share to be paid on application, aud 103. on allotment. Monthly calls, not exceeding 10*., may be afterwards made by the Directors, if necessary, Until the-whole capital is paid up. THE object of the Company is to work the FearNaught Claim, and to purchase the machinery belonging to Messrs. Hamlin and Stevens, adjacent thereto. The machinery proposed to be purchased comprises an engine, capable of ' driving 15 head of stampers, and a battery of five head of stampers, which are at present working, together, with site, buildings, water rights,; license*, tools, and all other rights and appurtenances thereto belonging. Of the six hundred shares five hundred will be retained by the shareholders, ninety will Ie allotted to thtT machine-owners as part payment, and the remaining seventy are offered to the public at par.
