COMPLIMENTARY DINNER TO OFFICERS OF H.M. S. 'ROSARIO.'
A comflimentaby dinner was last night given to the officers of H.M, s. ' Rosario by the officers of the 18th Royal Irish, at the regimental mess-room, Karangabape lioad. The dinner was served up in a moat sumptuous manner, and oomprised every delicacy of the season. Mr. Gallagher, messman, catered for the wants of the gueatsin his well-known style, and the dinner passed off most harmoniously. The splendid band of the regiment, under the able conductorship of the bandmaster, Mr. Quinn, was in attendance, and performed some choice selections of popular music in a very finished manner. After dinner, the nigbt being a moonlight one, the party promenaded the spacious grounds attached to the building, the band playing the while. Upon their return to the dining-room, the cloth having been removed during their absence, the usual loyal and patriotic toasts were given and responded to ; and the company, after spending a thoroughly pleasant evening together, retired well pleased at the kindly spirit which had been displayed to them by the officers of the 18tb. The ' Rosario leaves today for Tauranga, with his Excellency Sir George F. Bowen.
