PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
A Provincial Government Qazette was published on Saturday lust, and amongst other notioea contained, the following : — That the portion of land being the junction of Custom-house-street and Queen-street Wharf has been specially set apart for the use of the natives, to be used by them as a market-place for the sale of native produce. Appointment of A. Sinclair, Esq., as Deputy Waste Landi Commissioner for the province of Auokland, and Robert Sardinian to be keeper of the publio slaughter-house at Kohixnarama, known as Johnston's slaughter-house. Mr. Charles Moore, of Maungatawhiri Valley, and Mr. William Atkin, of Kohimarama, are appointed rangers under the Protection of Certain Animals Act Amendment Act, 1866, in addition to those whose nam.es have already been published. Mr. James La Trobe has been appointed ratecollector to the Waingaroa district, vice Mr. George Barrett, resigned. A new toll bar had been erected at the junction of Owen's road with the Onehunga road, near Auokland. The following donations to the Auokland Museum have been received during the month of June: "Birds — Athene Novse-Zelandi», Mr. W. J. Yandle 5 Pogonornis cinota, Rev. J. Kinder ; bones of kiwi, Rev. Ball ; marine shells, six speoies, Mrs. Kinder. Insects — Hepialno virescens, Dr. Watson ; Deinaciina (Weta), P. Eyre, Esq. MineralsSeries from Bay of Islands, W. Weaver, Esq., Enginear-in-Chief j encrusted duck from Te Tarata, Rey. J. Kinder ; irontand, Taranaki, Mrtf. MoKellar; kauri gum, T. M. Mackelvie, Esq. Library — Histoire Naturelle dcs Poissons, by BaTon Cuvier, 22 vols., with plates, Captain Button. Miscellaneous— Coin of Philip V., 1741, J. Farmer, Esq.; shilling, George 111., 1816, J. Farmer, Esq ; Southern Cross, September 11, 1849, Mr. James George." The tender of Mr. S. C. Macky, Otahuhu, for the supply of 20 tons seed potatoes of the best quality, to be delivered at Point Kussell, for £6 153. per ton, including bags, &c., has been accepted. Sittings of the Native Land Court will be held at Ohinemutu, Rotorua, on the 21sfc October next and following days ; at Maketu on the 14th October j and at Taupo on the 28th October. The dajs for payment of abstracts and accounts at the Provincial Treasury has been altered to the Bth and 9th of each month, or, should the Bth fall on Sunday, then on the Monday and Tuesday following. 1 The Gazette also contains list of names of persons in whose favour Crown grants are now ready for issue ; list of persons to whom publioans' licenses for town and bush have been granted ; wholesale licenses; and additional auctioneers' licenses for town and oountry.
