PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE. .

"HiMLET"was produced at this theatre on. Saturday evening before a good house, considering the rery inclement state of the weather, Mr. Edwards of course sustaining the principal part. It is almost useless endeavouring to set forth this gentleman's versatile talents as an actor, at a time when such general and just applause is rendered to him. It was, however, something new to hear him in this great character. There are many points in which he excels in his rendering of his part of this unparalleled drama, and many of these are peculiar to himself, and were characterised by taste and elegance. There are few exceptions to Mr. Edwards's rendering of Hamlet, although we thought him a little too studied in his delivery occasionally. In the ghost scene the fine qualities of the actor were fully brought out, and formed a pleasing contrast to the ranting or careless way in which this very pathetic part is sometimes given. Mr. Edwards was also most successful in the chamber scene, as also in the last act. We could not approve of the conception of the Ghost, adifljcultrdle, requiring faultless enunciation. The Queen was skilfully personated by Miss Juno who; as on a previous occasion, obtained the applause of an Auckland audience for her talented rendering of this important part. The other characters call for no special mention.
