PATRIOTIC APPEAL
Victory Flag Day
The first patriotic appeal since VE-day, will be held today as Victory Flag Day in Wellington and Lower Hutt. It will give an opportunity for all to express in practical form their gratefulness for the efforts of our servicemen in achieving victory. - ' A victory flag will be given to all persons making a patriotic donation. Proceeds are for the all purposes patriotic appeal, and as the Wellington metropolitan area still has a long way to go to attain its 1945 quota of £73,059,. a good collection is expected. The drive is being organized by the public services of Wellington. Among the collectors will be dental nurses, and colour will be lent to the day’s activities by entertainment from the Trentham Military Band under Captain Pike.' After marching through the streets the band will play at Liberty Corner at noon. The public is asked to give generously. It is also .suggested that one w’ay of helping Wellington to win the Freyberg Banner in the Victory Loan contest will be for the public to purchase Victory Bonds and then donate them to the patriotic appeal.
