GANDHI-JINNAH MEETING

(Received July 30. 5.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 29. A message from Lahore states that the president of the Moslem League, Dr. Jinnah, announced that he has received a letter from Mahatma Gandhi proposing a meeting, which he has accepted. In the course of a debate on India in the House of Commons yesterday, the Secretary of Stale. Mr. Amery, said that Britain stood by the proposals she made before India and (he world two years ago in all their generous amplitude. She also stood by—for the sake of peace—the indispensable conditions that had accompanied them. On that main issue there was no other declaration she could make.
