Officers and men on furlough and repatriated men belonging to Lower Hutt were given a civic welcome at the King George Theatre on Tuesday night. On behalf of the citizens the mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, expressed grateful thanks for the excellent jobs the men had done and trusted that when they returned it would be to a speedy ending of the conflict. In the meantime the citizens were proud to have them in their midst. To the repatriated prisoners of war and to the invalided men he offered the sincere sympathy of the citizens for the sufferings they had endured, and he wished all a speedy recovery.
