Firm’s Staff Siwrtage
Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, February 11.. “Quite a few tons of tomatoes were dumped this year as there was no staff to deal with them,” said the manpower officer's representative, Mr. W. A. Leggett, when an apepal by McKenzie's Stores, Limited, against the direction of a member of its staff to Thompson and Hills, Limited, was heard by the Auckland Manpower (Industrial) Committee, It was almost certain that there would be no supplies of tinned , fruit op vegetables available for civilian needs from the firm this season, added Mr. Leggett. The firm was tinning goods for the armed forces, and had ample supplies of tinplate and fruit ami vegetables, but there was insufficient staff. The appeal was dismissed.
