FAST CROSSING OF ATLANTIC

American-built Liberator (British Official Wireless.) (Received December 2, 7.30 p.m.) RUGBY, December 1. The fastest west to east crossing of the Atlantic by a ferry command aircraft was made by an American-built Liberator which arrived in Britain today. From the take-off to the touchdown the flight took 8 hours 23 minutes. The aircraft was piloted by Captain O. P. Kones, formerly well-known to Imperial Airways and British Overseas Airways passengers. The previous fastest west to east crossing was by a Liberator and a Boeing Fortress, both of which made the trip in 8 hours 54 minutes.
