Scholarship For Mr. Paul
Magill, M.A. ’
Mr. E. C. Cachemaille, secretary in New Zealand for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools Qf Music, Lon-, don, has been advised that the 1940 scholarship for pianoforte has been awarded to Mr. Paul Magill, M.A., a gifted young Wellington pianist. This scholarship entitles the winner to two years free tuition at the Royal Academy of Music, London, under any master he may select. Mr. Magill will probably take advantage of the opening given him, but that cannot be till after the war. . Mt. Magill, who is 21 years of age, has been a student at Victoria College, and this year has been engaged at the Teachers’ Training College, Kelburn.
Mr. Magill lias also been awarded the prize for the highest marks in the licentiate examinations of 1940 for the North Island. He is also a gold medallist aud an L.T.C.L. of Trinity College. For the last 12 years Mr. Magill has been a pupil of Mrs. Ethel Mackay.
