RUSSIA’S DEFENCE
Dunedin Meeting’s Tribute (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, September 8. An enthusiastic gathering of about 2000 iu the Town Hall tonight paid tribute to the magnificent defence being put up by the Russians and pledged whole-hearted support to a policy of giving every assistance to the Soviet iu its fight against the common-enemy. The meeting was Held by the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand Society for Closer Relations with Russia. The mayor, Mr. A. H. Allen, presided aud speakers were Mr. H. Atmore, M.P., and Mr. J. Roberts. Resolutions were adopted conveying greetings to the people of Russia from the citizens of Dunedin and urging the Government to afford all possible assistance to the Soviet.
