PRACTICE HELD RISKY

Football In Spectacles

Should boys wearing spectacles be allowed to play football? This question was referred to the New Zealand Football Association Council at its meeting in Wellington last night by the Auckland Football Association, which had decided that referees be asked to use their own discretion in such cases.

The council’s opinion was that though there was no rule against players in spectacles,' the practice was risky. Examples were quoted of a champion English goalkeeper playing in spectacles arid of leading cricketers in New Zealand.
