OBITUARY

Lord Rennell (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received July 28, 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 28. The death has occurred of Lord Rennell at the age of 83.

Lord Rennell, created a baron in 1933 had been a distinguished member of the British diplomatic service, and he was also the author of a number of historical works and of verse. He entered Balliol College, Oxford, and in the 1880 s began his diplomatic career with the first of a long and varied series ot appointments. He was Ambassador to Rome from 1908 to 1919, and he was a British delegate to the League of Nations tn 1921 and 1930. In 1928-32 he was a Conservative member of the House of Commons. He held many awards and was a Privy Councillor.
