The Premier of the Czechoslovak Government, Dr. Benes, in a broadcast to his people today, told them of the recognition of the President and Government by Britain and the similar action by Russia, as well as the signing of the treaty of mutual assistance and alliance in the war against Hitlerite Germany. Dr. Benes said his Government was continuing negotiations with Poland, with whom it wished close unity and collaboration.

He added that Czechoslovakia was being built up again bit by bit, and he exhorted his countrymen to remain strong. “We are guided by our stubborn will and our patriotic faith in a great victory,” he said. Trains Smashed. A Moscow communique today states that more than 200 casualties resulted from a collision between a goods train and a troop train near Warsaw, which also interrupted traffic. A Moscow communique yesterday stated: “A guerrilla detachment of Norwegian workmen operating in the Fascist rear in northern Finland attacked a German motorized column. The German officers and men who accompanied the column were all killed, and 15 lorries laden with munitions and food were destroyed.” Moscow radio reported that in the Polish port of Gdynia, during the loading of shells into a transport, an explosion occurred. According to a message from Ankara, 50,000 Serbs are now in revolt and the Axis has been compelled to strengthen the garrisons throughout the entire .country. Ten thousand men alone have been added to the Belgrade garrison. The patriots are well supplied with arms, and constantly raid the German supply bases. So unsuccessful have the Germans been in stamping out these bands that they have given up the attempt to get them out of the mountains, and are now seeking to isolate them instead.
