DEATH IN BURNING HUT
Elderly Farm Employee (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, July 27. A lire which broke out about eight o’clock this morning in a hut on the farm of F. J. Townsend, Merino Downs, resulted in the death of an elderly man named Frederick Robert Uulliinore, who was employed on the farm. Mr. Cullimorc was last seen alive about 9 o'clock last evening, when he visited the residence of the farm manager, Mr. J. A. Robertson. This morniu„ Mr. Robertson saw smoke issuing from the but, and on opening the door was met by a burst of flame. He succeeded in getting to Mr. Culllmore and dragging him outside, but examination of the body disclosed that life was extinct. Mr. Cullimorc, who was about b 0 years of age, was, it is believed, a single man and it is understood that he has a brother living in the Oamaiu district. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is suggested that Mr Cullimorc may have been smoking in bed.
