(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received July 27, 7 p.m.)
LONDON, July 26.
Documents which have been captured by the Russians disclose that Germany is secretly preparing for a surprise attack against Turkey. This was announced by the assistant Foreign Commissar, M. Losovky. Among the documents which were taken from the 52nd. German chemical regiment, was a file of secret maps and graphs of the European part of Turkey and the Straits, he said. The maps and charts indicated military objectives in Turkey such'ns airfields, arsenals, metallurgical works and port installations. Exact data was given of the distribution of the Turkish troops and rolling-stock, and the places most vulnerable to sea landings and attack by motorized troops were indicated. All the documents were issued by the German General Staff with instructions that they were to be used only for service needs.
The reports that Germany intends to attack Turkey have annoyed Turkish official circles, but they have aroused new apprehension among foreign diplomats, says the Ankara correspondent of the “New York Times.” Turkish military circles consider that the cumber of troops and amount of material at present on the Bulgarian frontier .are insufficient for any major action against Turkfey. However, travellers from Bulgaria have reported greatly increased military activity there.
