News And Notes From Town And Country Weekend Helpers at Y.W.C.A. The weekend entertainment for men of the forces provided at the AVellington Y.W.C.A. again proved popular. Among the helpers and hostesses were: Mesdames R. Gardner, R. S. Mclnnes, de Shryver, J. Robson, J. T. Holland, Irving, Misses A. D. Rennie, E. A’eitch, K. M. Smith, AV. L. Wilkinson, M. AVoolley, Stark, J. Curry, P. Allen, N. Benge, S. Bryant, R. Chew, C. Barry, M. Dick, B. Anderson, I. Blackie, M. Fleming, M. Groom, G. Groom, B. Gapes, R. Speirs, M. Caine, P. Connor, E. Dentice, E. Bradnock, 11. Bradnock, 0. Carson, D. Christie, P. Connell, B. Oxley, E. Haslam, G. McDonald, J. Adams, F. Drake, members of the Wellington Croquet Club, Kelburn Croquet Club, the Internal Marketing Department and the AVomen’s Gymnasium class, Messrs. Robson, Dent and Thomson. The service on Sunday was conducted by the Rev. J. T. Holland, C.F. The concert on Sunday evening was provided by Miss Gunn and party. An Interesting Meeting.

In honour of Mother’s Day, members of the Belmont AVomen’s Institute wore white flowers at their recent meeting, and responded to a roll-call of “Mother’s Christian Name.” The competition of “Something white for Mother, costing sixpence” provided many interesting entries, prizes going to a white crochet colku,’ by Mrs. Thompson and a white pique rose by Mrs. Jorgensen. Mrs. Simpson handed over the sum of £5 for the Hutt Valley Princess, Miss Nola Huse, as the result of the recent concert and thanks were extended to the Poneke Maori Choir and Taita AVomen’s Institute choir for their splendid assistance. Members volunteered to pack parcels for the Lady Galway Guild and also to visit the Macarthy Home. A “roving shilling” competition has been inaugurated and it is hoped that at the end of three months the soldiers’ parcels’ fund will benefit considerably. Combined Dance.

The dance at the Star Boating Club on Saturday was a combined affair in which the club and the Red Cross Women’s Transport Service were associated. There were IGO present. Mr. H. Anthony Lowe, viee-eaptain of the club, and Mrs. Lowe, and Mrs. Valeric Hole, commandant of the transport service, were among those who attended. A joint committee was responsible for tlie dance. It comprised Messrs. Lowe, L. Tapp, G. Turner, J. Moleta, P. Taylor, A. Orr (Star Club), Misses B. McCarty, M. Gibbons, M. Schofield, D. Stewart, N. Crammond, J. Gilmer, and M. Thodey (Red Cross). Mr. and Mrs. Lowe gave a sherry party before the dance at their home in Hawkestone Street.
