SNOW IN DUNEDIN

First Fall Of Winter

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIX, May 19.

Dunedin bad its first snowfall of the winter last night and today when the surrounding hills weer coated with snow, as well as some of the hill suburbs.

Motorists had to exercise great care and at one stage the corporation buses were unable to operate until fitted with chains. Both north and south of Dunedin fairly heavy falls have been experienced and some of the inland roads are impassable. Central Otago has escaped fairly lightly, the snowfall there being mainly confined to the hilltops. Though snow fell heavily in the city for several hours tonight there were indications of an improvement before midnight.
