“HIAWATHA”

At its second concert for the 1940 season on October 19, the Hoyal Wellington Choral Union will sing the first two acts of Coleridge Taylor’s “Hiawatha,” “The Wedding Feast” and the "Death of Minnehaha.” The soprar.o role of Minnehaha will be undertaken by Mrs. Chrissie Barton, Timaru. Mr. Harold Prescott, of Greymouth, will sing the tenor role of Chibabos, and Mr. Ernest Short, Dunedin, is being retained to sing the name part. In addition to “Hiawatha” the society will perform “The Delightsome Land.” composed by Stanley Oliver, and "it Comes from the Misty Ages." from Elgnr’n "Banner of St. George.” The chorus and orchestra, 'tinder Mr. Stanley Oliver's baton, will number 250.
