TERRITORIAL BALLOT

Small Percentage Of Error

“Though extreme cure was exercised by both the Army and the National Service Department, to ensure that a complete roll of all serving territorials was compiled and their names removed from the ballot, it is regrettable that a few errors were unavoidable,” said the Minister of National Service, Mr. Semple, replying to an urgent question by Mr. Gordon (Opposition, . Rangitikei). Mr. Gordon asked that the necessary steps should be taken to avoid a recurrence of those serving as volunteer- territorials being included in ballots.

“In a work of this magnitude it is not unreasonable to expect a percentage of error,” the Minister added. “Having regard to all the circumstances, I am satisfied that every care was exercised by my department and the same will be done in respect of all future ballots.”
