Many Targets For
R.A.F.

RUGBY, July 2.
Operations were continued over Germany and Holland last night by aircraft of the R.A.F. Bomber Command. Attacks were made on the Homburg oil refinery, a viaduct at Hamm, an important target near Duisberg, and a blast-furnace at Meiderich, in the same area. The aeroplane factory at Deichshausen, west of Bremen, was again attacked by bombers and damage was done to works and an adjoining aerodrome. Aerodromes at Wesel, Cologne, and Venlo, and a seaplane base at Texel were also effectively attacked. Aircraft of the Coastal Command aud Fleet Air Arm,' attacking in waves, bombed the aerodrome and barges in the canal at Rotterdam early this morning. A direct hit on an ammunition barge produced a tremendous explosion. , , j The aircraft found a broken cloud when they arrived over Rotterdam and it suited them admirably, screening them from the ground defences and from enemy fighters. They were able to do their bombing through the clear patches and immediately take cover again. Through the gaps the pilots could see massed searchlights. They bombed them, and the lights went out. Other lights showed the position of the aerodrome, on which more salvos ft The pilot of a naval aircraft ed barges in the river, and after one' of his salvos there was an explosion so great that he could see the flash through the dense clouds in which he was flying. Many fires were burning on the ground when the aircraft set a course for home. NEARLY 100 PLANES DOWN Total Loss In Raids Over Britain LONDON, July 3. It was announced today that nearly 100 German air raiders have been brought down in Great Britain or near the coasts since the war began.
