Choirs And Compositions CENTENNIAL FEATURES After the conclusion of the Centennial Music Festival in Wellington, the last of the four centres to be visited, other phases of music connected with the centennial will occupy the attention of Mr. Andersen Tyrer, the musical director of the festival and conductor of the Centennial Festival Orchestra. Starting in Auckland there are to be contests for choirs and string quartets for substantial prizes. It is understood that several choirs in each centre are in active rehearsal for this contest. Following Auckland. Mr. Tyrer will judge similar contests in Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington. His duties also include judging rhe original orchestral and choral works which are to be submitted for competition, another effort to encourage creative work in music in this country. It is expected that this will occupy four or five weeks.
