SPECIAL FACILITIES
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, February 13.
An announcement that special facilities for petrol licences would be given to exhibitors to agricultural and pastoral shows, has been conveyed to Mr. AV. F. O'Donnell, managing-secretary of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Association, by the Oil Fuel Controller. In recent, weeks agricultural show officials have expressed concern at; the effect the petrol restrictions were likely to have on entries and attendances at forthcoming fixtures, and representations were made by a number of associations in the Auckl mil province emphasising the difficulties facing them. Mr. O’Donnell stated that, when the position was first put before the Oil Fuel Controller, the Controller advised local controllers .that sympathetic consideration should be given to applications for special licences for show judges and officers, and that requests from exhibitors should be considered on their merits. This concession was not regarded as satisfactory, continued Mr. O’Donnell, and it was considered that exhibitors, more than anyone else, should have maximum facilities to send their stock to Hie shows. The decision now announced by the Controller from AATUington was welcomed, said Air. O’Donnell, who stated that if tlie names of exhibitors are forwarded. Io their local controllers by show secretaries, sufficient petrol will be made available for them to attend events.
