Ministerial.
The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington from Auckland by air yesterday.
Sir J. W. Sandford, a member of the Legislative Assembly of South Australia, is visiting Wellington. The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, returned south last night after attending official gatherings held in Wellington yesterday in connexion witli the departure of the First Echelon.
The Hon. Mr. Justice Kennedy arrived from the south yesterday morning by steamer. The Rev. Fr. Cahill left Wellington for tlie South Island last night. Mr. C. P. Hainsworth left Wellington last night for the South Island. Mr. ;J. Abel. Wellington, is visiting Australia and will be away for several weeks.
Mr. Anderton, M.P.. arrived in Wellington from Auckland yesterday by the Limited express.
Mr. .1. T’. .Jamieson left Wellington last night by the Limited express for Auckland.
The Bev. E. -J. orange, of Papatoetoe. lias been elected moderator of the South Auckland Presbytery for Ute ensuing year.
Mr. Jacob Elliott, a member of tlie Itailways Appeal Board, left for Auckland last evening by the Limited express.
Mr. 11. W. Hodgetts, the Adelaide broker .and sponsor of tlie noted cricketer Don Bradman, is on a visit to New Zealand.
Colonel G. Grattan, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived bv steamer yesterday morning after a lour of tlie South Island.
The lit. Hon. J. G. Coates was a passenger on the Limited express which arrived yesterday from Auckland.
Mr. P. It. M. Hamm, general manager of the National Bank of. New Zealand. Ltd., lias been elected chairman of (lie Associated Banks for 1910, in succession to Mr. R. C. Addison, inspector of the Bank of New South Wales in New Zealand. Dr. Halliday Sutherland, noted English author, hits arrived in Wellington. He will spend several weeks in Now Zealand, and before leaving for England again next month will deliver Im’liiies in Hie four main centres upon population in its relation to the British Empire. Dr. Sutherland is Hie author of several works, his bestknown being “Arches of the Years.
