WEDDINGS
Anderson —Openshaw it wedding uniting two well-known Rangitikei and Wairarapa .families took place recently in the Anglican Church, Marton, when Victor Archibald, only sou of Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderson, Horokiwi, Carterton, was married to Jocelyn, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Openshaw, Redvales, Marton.
The wedding was attended only by relations, as the bridegroom, on leave from military camp, will leave with the first echelon for overseas.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a magnolia satin frock made in simple empire style with a long train, the only ornament being a diamond crescent worn at the low neckline. A beautiful old family veil made of heavy parchment lace was mounted on a circlet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf bouquet of deep cream water-lilies and roses.
The bridesmaid, Miss Tui Anderson, wore an eggshell blue crepe frock, made with elbow puff sleeves aud draped neckline. She wore a band of natural pink and blue flowers in her hair and carried a sheaf bouquet of matching delphiniums and waterlilies. The best man was Mr. John Openshaw, and the ushers at the church were Messrs. Tony Fullerton-Smith and Villars Smith. An informal reception was held in the grounds and drawing-room of the beautiful old home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Smith. The bride travelled in a floral frock in fuchsia tonings, navy coat and navy veiled hat. Duncan —Shore The wedding took place recently at Maranui Methodist Church, Lyall Bay, Welington, of Edna Maxey, only daughter of Mrs. M. E. Shore, Wellington, and the late Mr. T. Shore, Cheshire, England, and George Henry Waddilove, only sou of Mr. and Mrs. 11. IV. Duncan, Lyall Bay. The Rev. E. O. Blamires officiated. The hymn “O Perfect Love,” was sung, and during the signing of tbe register, Mrs. Ronald Pritchard sang ‘‘l Walk Beside Thee.” The church was decorated with pink tulips, arum lilies and lily of the valley. The bride was given away by- her uncle, Mr. R. H. Pritchard. Her gown of cream rippled chiffon was fashioned with a high neckline, finished with a peter pan collar, a shirred bodice with shirred puff sleeves and a flowing ground-length skirt. Long white gloves completed the ensemble. Her fingertip tulle veil, edged with lace, was held in place by a small cream bird holding a sprig of orange blossom. A
sheaf of tulips, lily of the valley aud roses formed her bouquet. Miss Melba Dun-eau, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, and Mrs. Harold Gould was matron of honour. They were dressed alike in salmon-pink rippled chiffon with cross-over bodices and sunray pleated skirts. Topknots of tulips were worn on their hair and they carried bouquets of pink tulips to tone. Messrs. H. 11. Thompson and R. BCampbell were best man and groomsman. The ushers were Messrs. Harold Gould and Charles Thompson. After the ceremony close friends and relatives were entertained at tbe home of Mr. and Mrs. Z. Tattoo, Karuri. where the floral decorations were of tulips. The guests were received by Mrs. M. E. Shore, who wore a sax-blue tailored costume and pale pink blouse, with a corsage of orchids and lily o£ the valley, her model hat. being of tagel straw trimmed with box-ideated ribbon and a pearl pin. She was assisted by Mrs. H. W. Dunean, who wore a navy and white swiss embroidered frock over which was worn an edge-to-edge coat finished witli a spray of roses and lily of the valley. A navy bat and silver fox furs completed the ensemble. The bride travelled in a navy sheer frock, duck-egg blue coat and hat with navy accessories. Clarkson —Windham A quiet wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. Ives at the bnu e s home, Hukanui, recently, when Ethne Phyllis, second daughter of Mr. ana Mrs. L. G. AVenham, was married to Matthew Carson, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Clarkson, Kaitangata. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model frock of gold lace, with hat and shoes to tone. 1* or travelling, she chose a nigger brown costume with matching accessories. The honeymoon was spent in the south, the bridegroom, a member of tile special force, visiting his parents before returning to Trentham. Hubbard —Loader The wedding of Nancy AVarnes, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. j. Loader, Taueru, and Archibald, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. P. ilu'bbard, Masterton, was held recently in St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton. . , . The bride, who was accompanied by her father, wore a charming gown of magnolia satin •with embroidered veil to match. She carried a -beautiful bouquet of arum lilies. The bride’s sister, Mrs. R. O’Hara, ’Waipukurau, was matron of honour, and her cousin, Miss McLaughlin, Rangituma, was bridesmaid. They wore dainty frocks of pale pink and white organdie. Their pink net veils were finished with topknots of pink flowers and they carried bouquets of pink flowers. Mr. Keith Cameron was best man, and Mr. Bi Donald, Pahiatua, was groomsman. At tlie reception, -Miss Loader, wearing a floral frock with navy coat aud hat, received the guests. The bride travelled in a frock of jade green with tobacco brown coat and accessories.
