SAVINGS SYSTEM FOR GERMANY
Necessary Sacrifices (Received January 5, 11.55 p.m.) ROTTERDAM, January 5. Herr Funk, German Minister of Economics, in a speech in Salzburg, announced that a special savings system was being prepared for the duration of the war. He gave no details, but added that, nothing would bo demanded from the German people except those sacrifices necessary to prosecute and win the war.
“All sacrifices will be negligible, compared with the distress which the Treaty of Versailles imposed on us,” he declared,
