NEW RUNWAY AT RONGOTAI

Main Formation Finished

Work on the enlargement of the landing field at Rongotai aerodrome is well advanced. A new runway is being constructed along the eastern boundary of the aerodrome. About three and a half acres of land formerly part of the Miramar golf course are being taken in and almost two acres at the Moa Point corner where the surface is being built up and the seafront road realigned. The main formation is practically finished ami turfing and other surface treatment is under way.

The cost of tiie enlargement will be about £lB,OOO shared between the Wellington City Conneii and the Government.
