Second Edition FINNISH RAIDS

Aircraft’s Successes TRAIN DERAILED A Daventry 'broadcast early this morning stated that Finnish planes, led by Italian volunteers, have boriibed Erjo, the island taken over from Estonia by the Russians as a naval and air base. The planes succeeded in starting many fires. A Finnish reconnaissance plane later flew over the island and confirmed that fires were raging. Anti-aircraft fire met the planes, but none were damaged.

Finnish planes have also been active in the far north. A big petrol dump was destroyed by bombs near Murmansk, and railways behind the Russian lines were successfully bombed. Finnish ski patrols derailed a supply train proceeding to Murmansk and killed a number of Russian soldiers. —By radio.
