WEEKEND GOLF

Titahi’s Easy Win Over Paekakariki WATT CUP CONTEST All Twelve Games Go To Home Team A Watt Cup contest bewteen Titahi and Paekakariki on the Titahi course on Saturday afternoon saw Titahi win every one of the 32 games. This was the second time within a week that Paekakariki had been beaten in all 12 games in a Watt Cup engagement, as Manor Park also scored a grand slam the previous Saturday. The fairways were in capital order at Titahi on Saturday, but the greens were on the tricky side, and caused many short putts to fail to find the cup. A strong and cold westerly wind made accurate shooting difficult, but the Titahi players, who were all at the top of their form, controlled the ball well, and many of the games were won by convincing margins. Following are the results, the Titahi player being mentioned first:— N. W. Parker beat F. H. Kember, 4 and 3. D. A. Dacre beat J. Kember, 4 and 3. C. G. Swinburne beat A. I. Murray, 2 and 1. F. B. Carr beat A. J. Craighead, 3 and 2. H. C. Boon beat A. G. Barnett, 4 and 3. T. Hewitt beat A. Smith, 3 and 2. H. D. Gyles beat H. Bundle, 7 and 5. - „ * T. Johnston beat R. Brown, 7 and 5. I. Parkes beat AV. Goliop, 3 and 2. AV. H. Smith beat A. Goliop, 6 and 5. J. Hobson beat R. Perkins, 6 and 5. G. S. Seeder beat J. Smith, 6 and 5. Parker in Form. Neville Parker, the Titahi No. 1, started off by ringing a birdie 3 on to Frank Kember at the first hole (380 yards), and thereafter kept the lead to take the game by 4 and 3. Out in 36, with birdies at the first and sixth holes, the Titahi man was 2 up at the turn. He was 3 up at the seventh, but Kember rang on a birdie 4 at the eighth (407 yards) to get one back. Parker drew 3 up with 3 to 4 at the short tenih, and it looked as if he would be 4 up when he found the eleventh green (437 yards) with a beautiful iron second. Kember, however, got a half in 4 by running down a 32-foot putt. Parker drew 4up by taking the twelfth (444 yards) with a bogey 5 to 6, and the next three holes were halved, which gave Parker the game by 4 and 3. The Paekakariki player was handicaped by a touch of influenza, which compelled him to carry a lot of clothing. Dacre (Titahi) did the out journey tn 36 to stand three up on John Kember at the turn in the tussle between the No. 2's. He maintained his steadiness on the run home to take the game bv 4 and 3. He did the last nine in 39 for a round of 75. John Kember went out in 39, and returned in 40. BANISH CUP Titahi Beat Paekakariki A Ranisb Cup match between Titahi and Paekakariki on the Titahi links on Saturday afternoon resulted in a sweeping victory for Titahi by 9 games to 1.
