Wellington Provincial Championship / WON BY W. A. C. PULLAR Junior Championship To R. Ballantyne The Wellington provincial crosscountry senior championship, run at Silverstream on Saturday afternoon, was won by the Masterton runner, W. A. C. Pullar. Scottish No. 1 won the teams’ championship, and Presbyterian No. 3 the teams’ sealed handicap. . T> The junior event was won by R. Ballantyne (Scottish), and Scottish also won the teams’ championship. A total of 116 finished in the senior race, a well-known runner, D. Pederson, pulling out because of cramp. Pullar ran magnificently, leading practically all the way, and coming home 31 seconds before the second man, Colin Bruce. In the junior event, 55 harriers breasted the junior race was run first, Mr. T. W. Leslie sending the runners away from, the front of St. Patrick’s College. Tae course led 300 yards north along the main road from which point the harriers cut off to the left through some paddocks, south along the belt of pines, over several fences and through a stream. They followed the old road to the foot of the hill, then off to the left again, over more fences, through a stream, down a track to the main road, finishing their 3 1-8-mile run on the college grounds. The seniors were started from the college grounds and thereafter following the same course, but covering the distance twice. „ The weather was beautifully fine, though there was a steady, keen wind. There was a large crowd present. By winning the senior event, Pullar enhanced an enviable track and crosscountry record. He has now won .the New Zealand cross-country championship, the Wellington provincial crosscountry championship, as well as the Otago junior cross-country championship. i, Results:— SENIORS. In Weak weather the annual West Coast (North Island) harrier titles were decided in Wanganui today over the Bramwell Memorial course.
